  1. live near Indianapolis and it is blacked out until later in the afternoon after the race is over. generally the rebroadcast interferes with the reception of the coca cola 600. bummer


  2. I don't believe it is anymore....Since 1986 when they started going with a live broadcast, it's been blacked out until after the race, then rebroadcast.  

    But I do believe they've changed that so that it's broadcast in the Indy area at the same time as the rest of the country.  

    Before 1986, it was shown on tape delay, so there was no blackout needed anyways....Hope that answers your question!

  3. As someone who has lived in central Indiana all my life, I can say that the above poster is incorrect. The race is still blacked out locally and rebroadcast on the local ABC affiliate later that evening.
