Has the movie "Network" come true?

I recently saw the "Network", the 1976 Sidney Lumet movie starring Faye Dunaway, William Holden, and Peter Finch, who unforgettably played Howard "I'm mad as h**l and I'm not going to take this anymore!" Beale.

Lumet envisioned primetime news that was more entertainment and sensationalism than actual news. Ratings points, however despicably earned, trumped integrity and honesty.

Three questions:

(1) When did you last see Network?

(2) Do you think movie accurately foresaw shows on the cable news networks?

(3) If so, which one(s)?
