  1. I'm not sure what the mystery is (link below).

Anacondas grow to enormous sizes and this is the most plausible explanation.

    Psi

  2. No it hasn't been resolved yet

    Scientist still doubt it.

  3. Curious. I unfortunately haven't been able to find out anything on line, just the same info regurgitated endlessly. While a snake that size isn't impossible, I do have a number of questions:

    1. There are repeated claims that the photo was authenticated, I'd like to see a record of that. And if the negative hasn't been provided, the photo is bogus. "We lost the negative" is the number one red flag that a picture is bogus. It's the negative that needs to be authenticated.

    2. The number two red flag "hoax approaching" sign is when a picture of an unknown animal is taken just far enough away that no real detail can be discerned. 99% of cryptozoology photos share this characteristic, sad really.

    3. Why only one picture? And he claims the snake reared up ten feet and threatened to strike the copter? I know quite a bit about snakes and physics, and this sounds unlikely on both counts. A snake that size would move very slowly.

    4. The lighting and contrast in the picture does look like a picture of a garter snake under a light bulb.

Unless the negative is available for study, or a 40-50 foot snake is observed/captured under better conditions...I would call this photo indeterminate but a probable hoax.

    Interesting question.

  4. There is no mystery.  It's a big snake.  Like psi said, there are thousands of big snakes in the world.  The only picture I've seen has no visual points of reference, so no on can truly say how large it was.  The size mentioned in the article I read seems to be exaggerated.
