Trial of Sight

Part Fifteen

“Remember this?”

Grandma asks, pulling out a silver blade

“Huntsman custom fashioned this for you

upon the bidding of your father

It is the only gift that I can offer for your fight”

Cara gripped the handle,

weapon of her youth

Remembering she lost it

the night a Wolf drug her into his den

“Oh, my little Cara Crimson

My little Red

I know that I will never

stifle your vengeance

And for the crimes done against you

I would never ask to”

Cara let down her head

‘Goddess what am I to do?’

-With this poem, and AMY G’s response to the last, the secret should be out… nut if you cannot see then I ain’t telling’ ya!

  1. Okay, okay, you have me hooked, of course, you always did, but you know that already and you have Amy and Jeff to stroke your already overbudding ego. I do love the lines of the grandmother, the ending of this one sort of fell flat for me. I understand Cara's desperation, but it seems it would be more impacting if it ended with the grandmother's line "And for the crimes done against you/I would never ask to."

  2. You have inflicted cruel and unusual punishment upon us. I READ this. In a LITTLE while I'm going back to the 'HOOD.

    Sincerely,

    Lupus Maleficus Maximus.

btw Did I drug her or did I drag her?

An afterthought. I was of course amused by this, but after further reflection I realized that all these fables told to little kids reveal a basic inner truth. Whether or not we as children actually experienced maltreatment, I think we all realized at an early age that the world can be a scary place. It was a sad irony for me that my big bad wolf was actually my mother. And her mother? Well, grandma was actually born in Transylvania. That's the truth, it should tell you something.

  3. I'm still following Cara's tracks and your light too. Wonderful word weaving Siren. Please don't let us smash onto the rocks I beg you.

  4. these are sooo interesting, and yes i finally get it! YAY! lol

    keep going!!

    :)

  5. I love this series, Siren.  It takes something familiar and mundane and makes it a scintillating tale with dark mystery and taut suspense.  I will cheer if and when vengeance is wreaked upon "the crimes done against you", dear Cara. A wonderful tale...Thank you.
