First off, this is not any kind of statement about global warming. Just something I started thinking about.

I live in Minnesota and when I was a child I remember our Spring and Fall seasons as so beautiful. Spring was always colorful with almost perfect temperatures more days than not, and Fall was crisp, the leaves turning and sticking around for longer than a few days. Now these seasons are just dreary, short and miserable.

It makes me miss childhood just a little.

So has the weather in your area changed since you were a child?

  1. Well you know the saying April showers brings May flowers. It only rained once in April in my town. Central valley CA region. Iam pretty sure it used to rain more than that before. So I would say yes. I like it when its cold so that sucks.

  2. YES, AND I KNOW IT IS BECAUSE GLOBAL WARMING!

WE BETTER DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT FAST.

  3. Not so much the weather changing as it is that WE are changing and looking thru different eyes at the same old stuff. To summarize, I don't think the weather has changed, rather it is you who has changed. We all do.

  4. I live in southern Ontario, at lat 46, just east of Port Huron Mi.

We notice significant changes from year to year, and not all in the same direction. When we have a jet stream set up further north than here, or even here, we get a lot of warm wet weather,

When the jet stream sets up south of here we get a lot of cold and snow... the snow being pulled in off Lake Huron.

Our problem this year is that we have had a lot of very warm April weather, bringing all the flowers into bloom, including the fruit trees, and now we are going into a normal early May, with several hard frosts that will mean no fruit this year.

We have had this every so often in the past, and while it is unwelcome, it means we also lose our cherry fly and codling moth. They can not survive a year without fruit. It takes several years for their populations to rebuild to cause a problem. Then weather goes wonky again.

  5. I wasn't in this area when I was a child.

  6. I've noticed how the leaves haven't fell in october like they used to but now so november even the beginning of december

I also noticed it takes longer to get warm in april, when i was younger i always remember wearing dresses on easter and now it is still cold, this past easter we had a few flurrys the day before

where i live, which is md usa, i never remember tornado watches or any tornado ever, now we have tornado watches all the time and even some that have passed thru 20 or so miles from my house with in the last 2 years

    so weird

so u don't think it is because of global warming? what are u supposing then?

  7. I live down from you in Missouri, and have experienced the exact same things. . .  I am also a farmer from over 200 years of generational farming, and I would have to say it is global warming. . . The weather has everything messed up. . . from the crops/orchards not doing well, to the animals having a very varied birthing and laying eggs schedule. . . I sometimes sit and wonder how people are going to eat in the future, because I know a lot of people in my area have lost most everything due to the weird weather fluctuations . . .

    Great question :)

  8. 50 years ago you could count on spring coming to stay in April. now April is just a warmer winter month.

the trees & flowers bloom based on the amount of sunlight & the length of day light, they dont flower based on the actual temperature. so this extended winter weather freezes all the blooms when they come out at the same time they used to.

its like the calender has been rotated about 6 weeks.

the ground used to freeze around nov 15 but now its late december before the grounds frozen.

we can move our calenders back a month or so. but the plants have a much older programing & cant change it.

  9. I remember there being a whole lot more snow in the winter than there is now
