  1. Major corporations are attempting to cover their image.

THe reason it costs more is because the conventional way of doing things is to focus on how to drive down cost regardless of environmental effects or ethics.  Do you really think that from the entire process leading up to your products that they were really that cheap?  Getting the raw resources, paying people do it, paying people to run a factory and to make the product, shipping it, etc.?

  2. the hippies started the go green movement more than 40 years ago.along with the organic food fad.

various government agency's started handing out litter bags for cars 45 years ago & started the dont be a litter bug advertising campaign about the same time.

    were you born yesterday?

  3. Well, The "indians: had it right the whole time, everything was all natural, even the tools that made them. I wasnt born into this lifestyle, growing up during all my school years, they taught us then and noone really cares too much still. I think about the water first because it is what keeps is alive. if you dont keep the water clean, I cant even imagine what new sicknesses are lingering 100 years from now.

  4. I believe folks are starting to realize the sad state of affairs concerning our planet. And so, everyone is jumping on the bandwagon in order to appear "cosmopolitan / hip"; & part of the solution.

However, as long as we purchase products like the Swiffer(sp.), the disposable cleaning product(s) line; it's all just a bit of B.S.

As for organic foods, the reason it is more costly is because it cannot be produced as abundantly as non-organic foods. And also, to have the label "organic", there are strict governmental guidelines that must be met. Which costs the growers etc. money, & translates in higher costs.

  5. First of all, all the go green stuff you see nowadays is total junk, brainwashing designed by companies and major corporations to improve thier public image. The things that would really make a difference with the environment, like a national cap and trade system, or specific laws banning the release of certain amounts of green-house gasses haven't and aren't even close to becoming a reality. So the world isn't exactly "freaking out" yet. Most countries think they have much more important things to worry about. Although I would like to see the world panicking a bit more over global warming and the many other environmental crises we currently face, it's just not happening any time soon.

  6. I am all for going green. Sometimes it just takes awhile for people to realize that they are doing wrong and figure out how to fix it. It cost more to keep things pure and not speed up their growing with chemicals. And have you seen the t-shirts coca-cola is making out of recycled plastic bottles... They are sooooo soft. I got me one today at walmart!

  7. I think that people were afraid to admit it that we are having problems and now that more people are speaking up, alot of other people are realizing it is a lot more major than they thought (no kidding)! The only problem I think right now though is that some people are just 'supporting' Go Green etc. because it is a new 'trend' and it worries me that people may not try enough or do enough before its too late. In my opinion, paying more for what you say is the right thing--eating organic, is crazy but I suppose it is because it is becoming more popular and in demand and markets and stores are just beginning to sell a lot.

    Best wishes :]

  8. If it's not on our doorstep, we don't want to hear about it.  Global warming?  Extinction?  Pollution?--I CAN'T HEAR YOU... LA LA LA LA ... OH SAY CAN YOU SEE.....

There has been scarier (and more visible) evidence in recent years, so it's becoming harder and harder to ignore the environment.  Even gas companies are beginning to admit that global warming is an issue.
