  1. Never.  That is why they have scoring loops and photo finishes.  They have come within inches, but never tied.

  2. I don't think so.

  3. No

  4. In the event of a tie, the winner is decided by whoever lead the most laps in the race. If they led an equal amount of laps, then the victor would be decided by how many laps they were in the top 2, top 3, etc., etc.

  5. nope.  unlike other sports, nascar uses photo finishes to decide who crossed the line first.

  6. No  but close

  7. Not that I've heard of.  I have read about the closest finishes in Nascar history, and a tie wasn't up there.

  8. No because at the end of the race there is a picture taken and now they have a computer scoring system.

  9. There was a dead heat in a Nationwide race in Richmond a few years ago.

  10. No, but the first Daytona 500 did not have an official race winner for days until a photo surfaced showing the finish.  They originally said Johnny Beauchamp won, but a picture surfaced showing Lee Petty actually won.

They have electronic scoring now, so a tie is impossible.  The closest race ever (since electronic scoring and most likely ever since you could not tell who won by a picture) was 0.005 seconds  in the truck series a few weeks ago at Michigan.  Eric Darnell and Johnny Benson appeared to tie in pictures, but the electronic scoring said Darnell won.

  11. There have been many close ones but never any ties. Now that everything is digitally clocked with computers I guess it might be possible to cross at the same time.... who knows.
