Has there been a conspiracy betwwen Government and Car MFG. to keep MPG low so that theStates -Feds get more$

Isn't it in their best interest to have us get more gas?(they are all ready complaining that cutting use has cut into their revenue.)Also if Gas goes down in price , will this leave more room for them to tax us?

yes, and alot of that is the fact that we rent out U.S. owned areas to the gas supplying nations and then they sell it back to us for major $$$. The reason for that is all the tree huggers wont let us drill

I don't see that that makes much sense. Maybe a conspiracy between the government and the oil companies.

By keeping MPG low, we need to import more oil. This means more money to countries that pose national security threats to this country.

If they just wanted more tax revenue from oil, they could just raise the taxes on oil (like European countries do). That would get the states and the feds more money without causing the national security problems and environmental problems that low MPG causes.

I'm not saying there's no conspiracy, just that this particular one won't wash.
