  1. There has been a lot of construction on the levees.  The people who are complaining about moving back are being prevented from doing so because those areas have been designated unsafe, below sea level, and no levee can protect them.  NO has built plenty of homes and apartment complexes in 'safe' areas, and provided money for residents to move there.

It's completely foolish to rebuild in flood prone areas and for people to complain that they can't move back is just as stupid as why they didn't evacuate when told to do so in the first place.

As far as money that was sent to Louisiana, until Jindal took office, that federal money was squandered by the local and state governments on other stupid projects, and put in their pockets in the form of kick-backs.  NO mayor is one of the most corrupt idiots in government.  Jindal has put a stop to that, and the state is moving forward - thanks to a Republican!

  2. in fact there hasn't. i heard on the radio interviews with several former NO residents the other day who said that they are still scared of moving back because the levees have not been fixed...

think of the money that we could spend on our own infrastructure if we weren't spending billions a month in iraq...

  3. This money has not gone to Iraq- there has been alot of money sent to NO and lots of repairs have been made.

Other cities haven't had their levees break and flood the whole city- because other cities haven't taken care of business before hand. A little known bigger and stronger storm Hurricane Rita right after Katrina hit my area directly and we didn't see this extent of damage because we built things properly years ago. We also have fully recovered because we got in there rolled up our sleeves and did it ourselves and didn't stand on a street corner hollering we want help. That is why NO is so far behind in rebuilding- they didn't prepare nor did they do anything to help themselves afterward.

  4. States get funding from the same DOT souces, not GWOT money...If the state doesn't wisely allocate it rescources (Nagen era)..but if it makes you feel good to blame others keep that Moveon.org homepage.

Wonder why we hear no complaining from all the OTHER states that have had disasters and are recovering....

Edit: LOL..... so other states, (even those effected by katrina) flooding in the midwest, hurricanes in FL..list goes on...stop swallowing the cut and paste moveon.org post and look to the local and state goverment that are responsible...

    to date totals

    State Total: $373,298,167

    Federal Worksheet Totals:

    Project Count: 21,618

  5. Some how American has been conditioned to believe the lies of Bushco and of course the levees are not fixed how could they be as all the money goes to Iraq ,Its so sad ,yet so true and no one seems to give a rats azz.   that will change   OBAMA 2008

  6. Yes they are working on the levies but it seems the state and local governments suddenly don't think the levies are that important.  They are now building 100 year levies instead of 500 year levies..

  7. Nope, the poor areas of the city are still at risk, and you are correct the money has gone to Iraq, and Afghanistan, although don't think for one minute it was being used to track down Bin Laden

  8. Yet further proof of no knowledge - or no desire to know - how state governments / budgets work.

  9. the 100s of billions we sent to NO was sucked away once again by local democrat officials
