Has this ever been done where a player with 50 homeruns in a season had at least 1 in the parker in the same season? (40 homerun seasons either?)

  1. Last Year Prince Fielder hit exactly 50 homers. He hit an Inside the Parker in the Metrodome, when the ball got caught in the the ceiling supports, causing it to land awkwardly, allowing the big boy to run all across the diamond.

EDIT: Prince already has an Inside the Park Homer this year. He might reach 40 this year... He willl need a strong second half...not likely, but entirely possible.

  2. An inside the homerun almost never counts as a homerun.  It will almost always be someone extremely fast, and almost always involves an error which doesnt make it count as a homerun.

  3. There have been 41 player-seasons of 50+ home runs. We have reliable detailed information for 29 of them. Of those, three have had an inside the park HR:

    2007, Prince Fielder, 50 HR, 1 ITP (#25).

    2001, Sammy Sosa, 64 HR, 1 ITP (#63).

    1961, Mickey Mantle, 54 HR, 1 ITP (#25).

    Information not available:

    Foxx 1932, 1938

    Greenberg 1938

    Kiner 1947, 1949

    Mays 1955

    Mize 1947

    Ruth 1920, 1921, 1927, 1928

    Wilson 1930

There are 252 more player-seasons of 40-49 homers, so go ahead and do the research. Free headstart: Bonds hit 40 HR in 1997 with two ITP HR, and he owns seven of these seasons, so that knocks it down to 245 to go.
