Has there ever been a British NASCAR driver?

I see they are mostly from the US, or like Montoya from Colombia.

  3. There has been drivers from Canada, Columbia, Italy, Australia and Mexico but I don't know any from Britain.

  4. David Hobbs ran a few races.  I think it was in the 1970's .

  5. not yet, but i know dan wheldon from the IRL wants to be the first. the problem is no one has offered him a ride so far.

  8. according to wikipedia, franchitti is a scottish driver of italian descent, born in bathgate, west lothian, wherever that is.  and this year, england's john mickel will be in the truck race at charlotte (he has six previous starts in the ncts).
