  1. Yeah. I have heard stories about things like that. That along with scratch marks on the inside that have been found ages later

  2. I've wondered about that too. It's kinda creepy.

  3. max in eastenders

  4. Ye, I've heard there was an incident as such happened.

  5. im not 100% sure of this but in the olden days they used to have bells above the coffins with string leading into coffin incase someone woke up! im petrified of being buried alive but no chance of it these days. Again im not 100% just sure i read that somewhere x

  6. I hope not coz i wanna be cremated. gulp!

  7. Yes, but it has become rarer in modern times where the definition of death itself has changed. Back in the old days, people were often buried alive by accident, presumed dead, and finger nail marks were found on dug up coffins - so suffocating to death in the dark doesn't sound pleasant. They found a way around it, by putting a bell and a string in some coffins upon request and hoped the crypt keeper would hear them. It saved some lives.

  8. Yes - Uma Thurman in "Kill Bill"

  9. I dunno, but there have been cases of people waking up and jumping out of coffins.

Also, and most horribly, there have been cases of skeletons found in coffins with torn linings and some of the lining under their fingernails.

    Also, read this:

  10. Lots of them back in the old day. 1600 - 1800s. People used to be buried with an above ground bell so if there were buried alive (is was so common) they could ring the bell.

  11. oh god, i dont think so

imagine if they were to be cremated,

    they like

chuck the coffin in the oven thing, then hear a banging noise

    LOL (:

  12. yer there is !

i saw a documentry about it on the tele :)

same with people coming awake in operations, coming back to life in body bags etc.etc.

some people normally have autopsys or give organs anyway, and its very rare.

  13. It's impossible. I think before they bury your body they like drain fluids or something so there is absolutely no chance you can get back to life.

Plus the soil would be way too heavy, theres no space for it to move so if you're buried six feet under you're not gonna get out.

I think you've been watching too many movies!

  14. I lot of people have already said it.

But if you ever heard the term "Graveyard Shift", it originates from this.

Back in the "days",  the bell was tied to the inside of the coffin.  So if someone was sedated for a long period or whatever but was buried, they could ring the bell and the graveyard shift would dig them up.

    Hopes this helps.

  15. They've dug up alot of caskets where the inside lid had been clawed by it's occupant. In the "old days", people would have a certain kind of seizure where their bodies showed no signs of life and they were buried alive. I hear in Ireland, they use to have wakes for days at a time just to make sure the dead were dead.

  16. My sister in law has a book about people in the old days getting buried alive. There were real cases and some people were rescued. Others were just twisted in odd positions when the coffin was dug up. They've also found a lot of old coffins with claw marks on the inside, because the person woke up and tried to get out. I don't think it happens any more though, because the body gets embalmed.
