  1. Something that's relevant is that a genetics expert, as few years back, said that active sportsmen tend to have more daughters than sons due to their body conditions. Which would explain the flock of daughters Plugga Lockett, Lindsay Gaze and others have, some having sons after they quit sports.

SO AFL not being female-participant at the top level, this would make it less likely still.

My dad played VFL for Essendon in the thirties and forties. Most players were older then than now, he was 37 when he retired to play with Sandy VFA, and he came over from Williamstown in his early 20s. Which makes it still less likely that a father and son played at the same time.

Well, as someone else has said, a KNOWN father and son!

  2. I don't think so.

But that is not to say that it has not happened - there are many players running around out there who probably don't have a clue who their fathers are!

    And vice versa ......

  3. not to my knowledge

  4. Good qn .. maybe if Ablett had lasted a little longer? Could you imagine them all on the field ...

  5. If Michael Tuck was allowed to keep playing it might have happened, not, no never happened.

  6. I am 98% sure No. It is highly unlikely that; ok consider the average age for a debuting footballer to be 18. Now the avergae age gap bewteen father and son.. lets say ... 30 years. Now that means at time of debuting the son would thereofre be hypothetically 18 years old, and the father 48. In this day and age, you would not commonly have a player play until that age. If my knowlegde is not incorrect isnt the oldest player to play afl.. craig bradley of carlton? I think he retired at the age of 36 or something ... (in 1999)

I guess it could happen sometime in the future but its just not likely to ever happen

  7. Dont think so ayy.

Mmm i agree itd be cool to watch, but i think the son would be embarrassed to play with their father.

  8. What is afl??

  9. nah hasn't happened

    think about it

for a dad to have a kid in the afl at the same time, assuming he doesn't continue beyond 38 (bar robert harvey), would have to have a kid at 21, when most guys aren't thinking about kids.

  10. The answer is no, unless you count those father and son games with ex players on the mcg every now and then.

plenty of brothers, twins, etc, but no father and son.

there has been coach and son, john kennedy snr and jnr at the hawks, comes to mind.

  11. I doubt it, but you never no. It would be very cool though. Awsome question!!
