Shaq's weakness is in the free throw but at his prime he was consistently double, triple, and even quadriple team. He was so dominant that team came up with "Hack a Shaq" to prevent him from scoring at will because they just couldn't stop him. NBA made rule change for Shaq.

Have there ever been a single player that draw so much attention? Jordan comes to mind but I don't know if he was as dominant as Shaq. How about Wilt or Russel? I've never seen those two other guys play. I don't think Kareem Abdul Jabbar or even Olajuwan. Who ever you think, give some support for your arguement and please don't just say the name. I'm not refering to one game either. I'm talking about over a long period of time like a season or more.

  1. There was players way better than Shaq but I got to agree with you none was more dominant cause the game came natural to Shaq plus he had size and knows how to use it

  2. I wont say dominated he could be stopped ex. the hack a shaq only people that dominated the game were jordan, the big o,and bill russell....he was so strong if u put three people around him he would still drop the shoulder clear em all out and throw it down no one knew how to guard so they jus started foulin him every play...no one was strong enuff to keep him out of the lane and if they tripled him he is such a great passer he would hit the back door cutter or kick it out for 3....to me he was a force

  3. yes there is, his name is Jordan.

  4. Depends on which end of the floor.

Defensively, Hakeem and Bill Russell were more dominant than Shaq. Those guys changed the way opponents' offense were run. These two guys blocked shots and rebounded better than anyone in history. If you just watch clips of Hakeem, you'll see why he's "The Dream". And he's only a sampler of what Bill Russell brought.

Offensively, Jordan definitely was more dominant than Shaq. You can't quadruple team Jordan because he'll get by every one of your guys. We've all seen him play and dunk on bigger guys, the famous switch of hands, his notorious shake and bake on Ewing. You've never had a more forceful player that was more capable of taking over a game.

You've also got Kareem Abdul-Jabbar who's offensive Sky-Hook totally revolutionized the big-man game. That one move defined a whole age of L.A. championships.

And Wilt was just impossible to stop. His sheer size and athleticism actually made the NBA change rules. The NBA never changed rules for Shaq, but rather the new methods used against Shaq so he could play more freely. With Wilt, he was so good the NBA had to change rules to make it harder for him. The baseline wasn't always that wide in the paint, but Wilt made it so. Wilt was so powerful, he could dunk on free-throws causing the NBA to ban that move. Wilt's offense forever changed the NBA, making it harder for big men. Whereas Shaq, he was one of many to make rules a bit easier for poor free-throw shooting players.

  5. Darryl "Chocolate Thunder" Dawkins.  He was the first to break backboards.  Because of him, they had to develop the breakaway rim.

  6. the big o

  7. Wilt, he scored 100 in a game and averaged over 50 a season.

  8. have you heard of a guy named Tim Duncan?

If you saw the Lakers 3-peat, then you should have seen ow teams devote their best perimeter player on Kobe, and that put much less attentation on Shaq down low. Face it, Kobe and Shaq needed each other to win all those rings.

  9. yes me

  10. shaqs the best

  11. jordan is better than shaq in almost every way better on offenice and deffence.

  12. michael jordan was hands down the best, most dominant, athlete in the history of sports, not just basketball but in sports

  13. wilt of course. you know the rest.

  14. Wilt was. watch some old highlight. teams stayed swarming him. they foul alot harder n got away with more bull s*** back in those days n he hardly go techs or fouled out even. they wided the paint, stopped offensive goal tending (was legal then) stopped you from jumping at the line to shoot free throws (Wilt did that cuz he was so tall he could throw it in n hardly miss that way) and countless other rule changes when the man took the floor in the NBA. not too mention owning every d**n scoring record and and field goal % in the history of the league. so hands down its Wilt Chamberlain. If Kareem ain't play so long he wouldn't had got Wilt's all-time scoring mark.

  15. Wilt averaged 50 points and 20 rebounds. Enough said.

  16. wilt was just as dominant.

  17. a guy named wilt chamberlin

  18. physically dominant is a better definition of shaq.  he was physically impossible to stop, the refs didnt know how to call fouls when shaq got the ball in the paint, because player would foul him, but they would be the one flying out the way.

hes not unstoppable, because you could double im beofre he gets the ball and he would be out of the question, much like any center/pf to play though.  when shaq was young, he was also a huge defensive presence, he might not have been as great a shot blocker as hakeem was, but his presence in the paint made players not want to get close to where he was.

wilt in his era was physically dominant also, but the size that shaq had in his prime along with the quickness he had for his size makes him more physically dominant than wilt in my opinion.

i believe the 3 second rule was made so players like shaq cant just sit inside the paint and not move.

as for being a jsut dominant player, you would have to go with jordan and wilt, for being able to just score so much consistently.  they are the only players to average over 30 throughout their careers while shooting 50% from the field.

  19. Larry Bird

  20. Patrick Ewing
