Has there ever been a proven case of human spontaneous combustion?

I know that there are heaps of materials that can spontaneously combust, and I know that it is possible for a human too. But has it ever actually happened (to a human)? Is so, what happened?

  1. Maybe if you ate a whole bunch of wet compacted hay. Something about a chemical reaction can make that burst into flame. Certain chemicals could do it if you had the right combination. I don't think there ever has been a "proven case" so to speak, but who can you believe anyway? I think it's totally possible.


  2. It depends on what stories you believe.  There have been a number of cases reported where spontaneous combustion was attributed to the cause of death, but some claim that they can be explained by other causes, like elderly people smoking and catching their clothing on fire.  See the pages below.
