  1. yes, there has been reserch like the show taps!

  2. Dear Friend,

Yes there are many researches which are carried out world wide on such subject as this kind of questions always baffled humanity. Paranormal world is beyond five senses, mind and intellect which are subtle and so it can be comprehended with the help of sixth sense (which is subtle). Spiritual Science Research Foundation (SSRF) has also done much research on various fields in spirituality. But to experience legitimate truth one has to develop one’s subtle ability.

On the subject ‘life after death’, SSRF has well explained and scientific article. You would love to read all details on this subject. Please access this article at following link:

  3. There is no correct answer to this question.

In a skeptics eyes, there is NO legitimate research, because there is no scientific tests to prove anything.

In a believers eyes, there is legitimate studies going on that are trying to get proof.

I guess it all depends on whom you talk to.  I know of plenty of scientists & colleage professors that are very much interested in this field.  ON the same note, Most of the scientific field does not beleive in the boogyman or spooks.

  4. I don't understand why skeptics need "proof". Either it happens to you or it doesn't. Just because it doesn't happen to you..doesn't mean it's not true. I don't get to travel much...but I'm able to believe there are other continents..because of what other people say. I don't know why it's so hard to believe in the paranormal. Just because you haven't "been there"  yet doesn't mean it isn't there.

  6. Yes, attempts have been made to obtain evidence for the paranormal using scientific methods. The link below is a very thorough summary of the history of psi research, with plenty of links and citations.

Despite the misinformation you might hear from paranormal evangelists, paranormal research has yet to provide positive results meeting the standards of scientific research. For example, although some might be tempted to be so simplistic as to take a reported P-value from a research report on faith, assuming that the entire methodology (experimental and analytical) behind that calculation was valid, as it turns out the crux of the controversy happens to be the validity of the methodology used in paranormal research. So simply quoting a P-value is really just an exercise in sweeping the problems under the rug.

  7. I guess you would have to define what you call legitimate research........

If you do research on any given subject, you have to be open minded to the results, no matter what they are. If a company invests $100 million in a pill that cures cancer, they have to be ready to accept the fact that this pill might not work. The reality is, that the company will hold the scientists responsible for the results, so the scientists will have to choose between getting paid and fixing the results to they look positive, or finding a new job.

The same thing happens with paranormal research. Someone spends tons of money, and years researching something like telekinesis. Obviously they would have to go into it expecting two possible outcomes (its real, its not real) and they are unwilling to accept the negative one.

You have projects like the pear project which ends on the high side of normal so they can state that you can influence numbers on a computer screen. However, the research is mathematically challengable since computers use an algorithm to choose random numbers. The computer can not stray from those algorithms, no matter how much the user wills it to.

  8. There's been plenty of research. Most all of it leading to nothing.Inconclusive,is the very best result any supernatural investigation has so far had.For instance telekinesis has been tested so much. Most legitimate scientists consider it virtually impossible. The possibility of an afterlife is completely faith based. There is no evidence for it.We all do find out eventually.I hope.

  9. Yes, many members of the Parapsychological Association (full membership requires a doctorate and most members hold them in conventional sciences like medicine, physics, engineering, psychology, etc.) conduct research on topics that some people would call paranormal. Those in parapsychology call them normal human abilities not yet fully described (or understood) by science.

There are many paths to the study of the afterlife from ghost reports to reincarnation to spiritual mediums and all have been studied by qualified scientist. (links below).

Despite the religious objections of skeptics much of this research has produced statistically significant and methodologically sound evidence that meets all the criteria of any other science. Refusal to accept the evidence is either based on the rejection of the accepted standards of science or on religious faith and nothing else.

  10. They tried to detect the soul in people. It never worked. They need much more advanced technology to detect the soul in people.

  11. Has there ever been any legitimate research into the supernatural/paranormal?

    Lots and lots.

If so has there been any evidence to suggest the possbility of an afterlife?

    No.

(Far too brief for a "best answer" of course, but true nonetheless)

    .

  12. There are many people who believe there is an afterlife (I being one of them) There has been many people who have tried to get proof from this.  Some claim to have proof for theirselves and I know this for I do too...  It is a very hard topic to discuss though....

  13. I am not sure how you would like that question answered.  There are plenty of people who are not into the research for the fortune, fame, money etc.  But they are not degreed individuals that science would recognize as being legit.  And they have some pretty interesting findings.  I would consider them to be legitimate.

Since science by in large does not recognize the studay of the paranormal as legit, then it would follow that they don't believe any of it.  But that is their narrow minded loss....

  14. Sure, there has been research.  It's never as s**y or exciting as the TV shows, but it's happened.  Unfortunately the lack of results dried up much of the research money.  Some people, unswayed by things like evidence, keep right at it though.

EDIT: Denie, the evidence or data (not proof) asked for is in the interest of indicating the objective, independent existence of something.  Is it something that has a reality separate from the person reporting it?  If so, then it's real.  If not, then it could be the result of something else having to do with the person observing it.
