Has there ever there been a player so disliked after doing so much for a franchise?

It seems that the majority of Laker fans have nothing but bad things to say about Shaq. I realize the dude didn't leave on the best of terms. But still. The guy won you 3 NBA titles and was a huge part of some of the franchise's greatest moments. Most fans would be eternally grateful to such a player, regardless of his perceived shortcomings. Why are Laker fans always bashing and hatin on the man?

I think it's funny how people think Shaq is the one who betrayed them, when in reality Kobe was the one who refused to play with him. How many championships have the Lakers won without Shaq in the past few years?

dont know why they hate him so much, kobes the reason he was shipped out.  if they didnt ship shaq, kobe wouldve left the next year as a free agent.  kobe was the one saying that shaq staying would affect his decision to stay with the lakers.

There was nothing I didn't like about Shaq. His game, his personality, and the fact that he did help the Lakers win 3 championships. But he went to Dr. Buss and straight up said he wanted a larger contract. Buss brushed it off saying he was getting older and had a bad work ethic.

I think the majority that know the truth agree that we have mixed feelings of Shaq because of the way he left. He demanded a trade and dissed the organization after. Someone who did so much to the franchise ended it bitterly.

Because he bashed Kobe and left the Lakers. Kobe did not chase Shaq away. Shaq wanted a bigger contract and the management refused so he demanded to be traded.

And then of course, the rap by Shaq.

Well anyway it's because he rips every one of his former teams! I thought that would be obvious since you know so much about the Lakers! LOL. Sure a lot of star players demand trades, A.I, KG, T-mac, but do they rip their former teams? NO! What's the first thing Shaq does? Disses them and gets into shape! LMAO!

laker fans even when they dont admit it, will always have love for shaq because well...he did put the lakers back on the map with kobe, when he was in l.a he was the most beloved guy in the entire city.

why fans hate him now is because he was so sore that the organization which he wanted to retire with let him go, hes still bitter and having them build around kobe didnt help either , and kobe is still playing for what shaq called ''his coach''.and when he goes around rapping and talking alot of his smack that just adds fuel to the fire.

Ben Wallace is the same with Pistons fans. They loved him when he with the Pistons. But as soon as he took the check and headed to Chi-Town everyone hated him.

Yes Shaq did alot for the Laker and i am Thankful for that, but the way he left dint settle good for him and how him and Kobe ended was not the Best, and what got me mad at the guy was 2 years ago when he played with the Heat He dunked or did something to bynum and when Bynum did the something Shaq got offended and i think hit him soemthing like that

ok Pistonsfan..no one hates Ben Wallace.. and you know what that doesn't make sense to me because with out shaq they wouldn't have those 3 rings, but it happens to all players that "betray" their teams. Like for us Pistons fans you can't hate Ben because with out him we have no championship

First I like to say that Greg doesn't know what he's talkin about. I live in LA and he lives in Houston so he should just shut up.

From what I understand, the LA fans loved Shaq even when he was shipped out. But Shaq has no class at all, he acts like a little kid and comes to Training Camp 50 pounds overweight. Not to mention he bashed Kobe, Mitch Kupchak, and the Rest of the Laker Organization. Thats why we LA fans hate Shaq, if he had more class then we wouldnt hate him.

Baron Davis.. stupid money-caring PG left the Warriors although he was due to make around 18mil next year, but instead, left for the division rivals, thinking he could make the bling bling and play with Maggette and Brand. Let's see you pull your shirt up again, that is, if you make it into the playoffs and get a chance to dunk again.
