Has this ever happened to anybody?

I can hear peoples conversation from a very far distance. For e.g I woke up in the middle night to hear my neighbour talking on his phone (he was inside his house at the time and I don't live close to him at all. I could tell he was sitting around his table in his house talking to a man about a particular situation). Another time my sis was on the phone in her room and although I was in my room (which is far) I could her what the other person was saying. When I purposely blocked myself from listening I couldn't hear it anymore. If this is paranormal what is it? And how can I test to see if my hearing is unusual?

  1. you are soooo lucky :]

  2. yes, sometimes when the area around you is very quiet, you can hear far away voices. creepy isn't .

  3. You have a gift. :  )

  4. I remember seeing a report on a man who had a similar condition.  It progressed to the point which his hearing became so acute that even moving his head caused enough noise to give him a headache.  I believe they discovered that it t was caused by a calcium buildup on the tympanic membrane in the ear.  Basically, his ear started amplifying things well beyond the normal range.

From what I understood from the report, it started out as something he didn't mind, but soon it debilitated him because of how loud everything got.  They were able to surgically correct the problem, however.

I wish I remembered where I saw it.  I believe it was a report on "60 Minutes."  I would definitely consult a doctor if it gets worse.  Though I believe in the paranormal, I often believe that there is a reason for it.  If it were a gift that you possess, you would most likely inherently know how to use it.  Given the circumstances, though, I would suggest seeking medical advice.  When you "purposefully block" what you hear, anyone can do the same thing.  It is not shutting out the "psychic network" – it is just focusing on something different to distract you from the meaning of what you hear.  If you do have a similar condition as the man I mentioned, it apparently gets a lot worse before it gets better.  I would suggest staving it off before it becomes bothersome to you.

  5. I think that's cool!  I work at an ear clinic, and there are a few people who have outstanding hearing.  Go to a clinic where they do hearing tests (usually a Miracle Ear will do this for free)  Then you can see what's going on!
