I'd be driving along and my tailgate flys open. i watch my speed, but if i hit a dip in the road (sometimes) it comes down. Also, last year i had a accident that had rear end damage to it, could that be a factor?

  1. Yeah, the accident is probably a factor. Check the latches on the sides of the bed. If the tailgate is too easy or hard to close, they are probably out of alignment. Should be pretty easy to get them straightened out, though, they should have some adjustability.

  2. You need to take the truck back to where it was repaired.  They did not align the locking (latch) mechanism correctly.

  3. "not" sure it has happened to me few times,I contribute mine to sticky latch, like it doesn,t catch every time you close it..

  4. Take it back to the shop and have them repair it sounds like a latch is letting go or a cable it getting pinched when its getting closed so its not latching properly.  Good luck
