I've had three interviews w/ a large bank in 3 consecutive weeks. Yesterday afternoon I received a call from them. The woman who first interviewed me is on vacation, thus a second woman from HR who's never met me called me because there was a question she wanted to ask me to complete the process. She asked me how did it go in my last interview with the CEO- I was puzzled- wouldn't she know? So I said "excuse me?" and she asked me again- I told her that from my end it went very well. She then said that she didn't have in her forms my salary requirement- I asked what was the range for this position, she said she didn't know or something like that. So she asked me again, and I asked if she knew the estimate- she said no. I said it was negotiable. She then went on saying about how many "wonderful"candidates like myself turned out. (In my first interview, I was told that only two people will do all 3 interviews). They also said they were desperate. What do you make of this call?Odd isn't it?

  1. It's normal, in large organizations some employees might not be aware of the details of a particular "project" and ask silly questions (because the generalize). Nothing to worry about.

I'm amazed by something else: it's a large bank and you had an interview with the CEO? That is extremely rare and normally only happens for jobs who report directly to the CEO (including his personal assistant), once the CEO is involved, the HR department is usually not aware of all the details.
