Has this winter been colder or warmer than the past winters in the USA as a whole?

It seems like to me this winter has been very cold, around the US, I hear of records being broken quite a bit, although I have been paying closer attention due to the global warming issue. Are the temperatures still going up? Is there an unbiased web site I could go to, to compare temperatures of this year from prior years? Thanks.

  1. Here's a link from NASA showing the temperatures haven't increased since 1998.

  2. i remember last yr being very cold also.

    here's one:

  3. Colder in GA. Don't forget that global warming is the cause if ....it's colder than normal. It's warmer than normal. We have more hurricanes or less hurricanes than normal. If it's more normal than normal. If the wind blows 2 mph faster than 3 years ago, that's global warming.  No matter what..it's global warming.

  4. i know its not exactly what you are looking for but this NASA page gives both global and us mean temperatures.

  5. over the last 30 years warmer.  yes it gets cold for a week then warms up for 2 weeks then gets cold again for a week then warms up again. when I was a kid it got cold starting in October, I remember trick or treating in a light snow many times and it stayed cold through march.

last year and the year before I had my boat on the lake in January and I live in northern Ohio, this year it's been cold for 2 weeks but was warm enough before this that the ice is too thin to fish safely.

and GW refers to a year round average not the temp one day.

  6. i don't know - but, until this year i have never worn shorts in january.

  7. yes in the past few years the winter been colder or warmer in the  U.S.A due global warming because due to the pollution the carbon dioxide gas increasing which do not allow to pass the heat and absorb it and in night it temperature is less .releases the heat which is causing global warming and due to rise in temperature every day 40,000 ice melts in antarctic ocean

  8. Here in my area,it's been warmer.Although upstate it has been warmer than it has here.To me,it seems that the North and South have switched roles in the climate.

  9. it doesn't snow here in Tennessee near as much as it did 10-15 years ago i can tell u that and those around me agree. this year has been cold so far but we had a couple days in the low 70s in December. i dint think its colder than usual about the same but i have noticed a big difference in weather conditions. as a kid 15 yrs ago it would snow 4-8 inches not uncommon but now we wouldn't know what to do. oh yeah , now it just rains and freezes
