  1. havent been there but stayed stalis a few miles away after flying into heraklion airport and from what ive heard its a bit more up market and very nice. the resort seems to be built around the harbour and is supposed to be really nice.

  2. Agios Nikolaos is a busy resort with a nice public, sandy beach near the Port and a lake with lots of tavernas around it where you can sit and enjoy the sunshine - currently 38C today.  There is a small folk museum near the lake which is worth a visit and an art exhibition centre in the middle of town.  The town is built on hills but you can wander around the shops at a leisurely pace.  The local bus service will take you in to Iraklion (about 1hr) where you can find the Knossos Museum, Natural History Museum and plenty of shops, cinemas and places to eat.  As with all greek holidays accommodation isn't always close to the town so be prepared to walk or use the public transport.  Hope this helps with your planning.

  3. dont go to crete if you enjoy watersports or the beach ,most days were red flag days and the sea was very rough

its good for sunbathing as its very hot
