I opened my light bill yesterday, and it doubled in price. I assumed it was an error and called the light company, and they said that everyone bill was increasing about 60% due to the fuel charge increase. I am extremely disappointed, trying to live on a budget, food, gas, and all the bills have increase, but there's no increase in salary. Were do they think we will can get the extra money??? Please offer your comments and suggestions. Thanks!

  1. Look at the price of fuel -- what else can you expect with your electric bill?  You have to reduce consumption, just like you have to reduce gas consumption with your car.  Change lightbulbs to energy-efficient ones.  Unplug the TV, 'puter, printer, etc. (or turn it all off at the surge protector) before you go to bed.  Make the most of daylight.  Do you have a solar-powered calculator?  Lots of other things on the same principle, such as turn off your outdoor/porch light and line the driveway and walkway with solar-powered lights.  Get double-duty out of your oven: if you are roasting a chicken, do 2 so you can do quick-reheat things with the other chicken, and bake potatoes at the same time, then make potato salad with the extra.

And like everyone, you have to eliminate non-essential spending, and save money!  You need an emergency cash supply, savings, etc. -- put away as much money as you possibly can.
