Oh jeez. My daughter, age 4, found my vibrator. I completely forgot and left it on the night stand. She comes to me with it, on, and says "Mom, WHAT is THIS?" She was delighted. Oh my god. I just took it from her, calmly as possible, and put it away. I said, "It's just a tool." Then she said "What did you use it for? To hang up the new curtains?" What could I say? I said "Yes. What do you want for breakfast?" Jeez.

  1. My friend found her parents' p**n collection. I think that one was a bit more difficult for them to explain away, especially since she was 14 at the time.

I've thankfully never found anything like that of my parents (I choose to believe that they don't have anything like that, and they really don't strike me as the type anyway) but from now on I'll forever live in fear of the day that changes.

Honestly though, I've gotten to the point where I just don't think I can be surprised by that kind of thing, so it might not bother me.

I sure hope that you daughter doesn't remember this moment when she's older and knows what a vibrator is though, otherwise you might be in for an interesting conversation.

  2. LOL!!

oh my goodness.. that's too great.  I'm no parent and thankfully haven't come across any of my parents.. but oh man, that made my day

  3. Yes fortunately(?) she was older.  I simply took it back and told her it was mine and it was none of her business.

  4. Hehe! It becomes more challenging when your baby can walk and open doors huh?

I wouldn't worry about it. This becomes one of the funny stories you can share with your daughter when she's married and has her first kid. But a 4 year old is not likely to be impacted by this experience.

I'm very glad you didn't tell her the truth. Parents today seem to have an obsessive bent towards making their kids grow up by age 6. You correctly realized that your daughter had no business knowing anything about that "tool".

    Good luck smart mom!

  5. Yes.... My son was about 3 or 4 and he got in my nightstand and comes down stairs and I believe my father in law was there. LOL He said MOMMY!!! what IS this? with a weird look on his face. LMAO OMG i said uh mine.. he goes why?  said cuz it is I really hope my father in law did not see what he came down the stairs with

  6. That was just to great. It made my day. I am lucky enough that that never happened to me as a child. The worst I ever found was condoms, and my parents told me they were balloon animals. I am 27 weeks pregnant and I hope this never happens to me with my kids. But thanks for the laugh.

  7. That's hilarious! Well, since it didn't happen to me. I have teenagers and used to keep the toys way up in the closet, but always ruined the mood to have to go get them. Now I keep them in a basket on a high shelf right next to the bed. It's convenient, but one day I'm afraid they'll find them. I have NO idea what we'll say.

I found my dad's Playboy mags when I was maybe 10 or 11. I still have never told him that I found them.

  8. My children have never found them, but when I was 20 I lived with a roomate and I left for the weekend and was shocked and amused upon my return to find some... ahem... beads hanging on the living room wall. She, being incredibly innocent about such things, had thought they were some sort of decoration! I have no idea where she had found them... I must have left them to dry after washing them or something... needless to say they were more carefully hidden from then on.

  9. I hope it was clean!!
