  1. my ball python escaped a long time ago. we hunted for hours. we finally found it curled up in a dresser drawer.

  2. I've had four escapes. A boa was loose for months and was found in a file cabinet (no, not under "B"). A kingsnake not only got out of the cage but out of the house. I found it next spring in the woodpile. An indigo snake got out just before my mother-in-law came for a visit. He managed to open a mouse cage and was gorging on the mice as they tried to make their escape. Mother-in-law was not pleased. The only one that really bothered me was when a rattlesnake got loose in school and students found it behind a water fountain. The cage got modified immediately.

  3. Not my snakes, I have a lid lock. However a found a friends snake said it had been missing for weeks, I told him I bet the snake wasn't far from its tank, Low and behold same room as its tank.

  4. No. My lid is secure. If they have plenty room, a clean container, fresh water and enough food, they usually wont.

  5. Yes! It was so funny too! I didn't tried looking for it because I've learned that there is really no point. I've looked for them once and for hours and it didn't work....... but

3 of my ball pythons had escaped. 2 of them are about 2 1/2 to 3 feet and one of them is barely 2 feer(still a baby)

Well I found one of the "adult" on my floor just chilling a week later and the other adult in my washing machine while it was on....don't ask why. I don't know myself. She was in the washing machine on the side. Also a week later.

I found my baby one because I almost stepped on it...and OMG did I freaked out because it was dark and I could barely see it...I didn't know what it was! LOL

But now all of them have very secured locks on the cages and books on top. lol =]

  6. Once, my roommate was looking after my ball python (abt 4 ft long) for me when I was gone for a weekend, she changed the water and thought she was locking the latch on the lid but she accidentally turned it the wrong way.  I got a frantic phone call that the snake was missing.  We turned the whole apartment upside down, nothing.  Luckily the landlords were snake people and didn't react too badly when we let them know.

Two weeks later around midnight we got a call from the landlord.  "109 has your snake, and they are NOT happy!"  the snake has worked its way through the plumbing all the way to the other side of the apartment building and down a floor.  It was down in a girl's water bed (you know, between the side of the bed and the water mattress), trying to get warm.  The girls was freaking out screaming about it, and the guys with her were cracking up (but no one wanted to touch the snake).  We went in and I pulled it out and it was a little dehydrated and a bit hungry but otherwise none the worse for wear.

  7. yes. my boa escaped once and we couldn't find him. mom in law came to visit (deadly afraid of snakes) and there he was in the artificial tree in the corner just over her head!

We bought a taller cage for him and put plants in there. he was happy to stay put after that.

btw- one reason for escaping is hunger.another is discomfort with environment.
