Hashamat Ullah Barakzai wins the ninth stage of 16th Tour de Pakistan
Hashamat Ullah from Afghanistan won the ninth stage of 16th Tour de Pakistan International cycle race. Hasmatullah covered a total distance of 115 kilometres in three hours, 11 minutes and 36 seconds. Sabir Ali from WAPDA was second with the timing
of in 3 hours, 11 minutes and 46 seconds, while Rameen Roofi of Afghanistan ended up in third position with a timing of 3 hours, 11 minutes and 56 seconds.
The Tour de Pakistan takes place from Lahore to Gujrat and started on Friday. 46 cyclists took part in the ninth phase of the race.
Sabir Ali, who is second in this race, previously won the first two stages but lost in the third and fourth stage. The Sindh native, Mohammad Asif, won the third and fourth stage. Sabir Ali did not lose any hope and clinched the fifth, sixth, and seventh
stage of Tour de Pakistan competition.
South Asian Games silver medalist Sabir was also leading in overall tables and due to this he was relaxed and as a result Haroon Rashid won the eighth stage. He covered the distance of 178 kilo metres in 3 hours, 44 minutes and one second.
Previously, Hashamat Ullah showed his best result when he secured the third position in the second stage, third position in the third stage and again grabbed third place in the fifth stage. In the sixth stage he covered the distance of 90
kilometres in 2 hours, 36 minutes and 44 second to get a fourth position finish. He also won the fifth position in the seventh stage and in the eighth stage he was in fourth position with a time of 3 hours, 44 minutes and 31 seconds with the pack of forty-six
cyclists.
Hashamat Ullah was very happy with his performance after clinching the ninth stage and he said, “I am pleased with my performance.” He also added, “I’ve proved that I’m the strongest cyclist”.
Last year, Zahid Gulfam from WAPDA won the 15th Tour de Pakistan cycling race by covering the distance of 1655 Kilo-metres in 46 hours, 13 minutes and 9 seconds and received the prize money of US$ 2,500. Nisar Ahmed got the 2nd position
in the race and received US$ 1,500. While Hashmatullah from Afghanistan won the third position and received US$ 1,000 as well as the fourth to sixth finishers receiving US$ 750 each.
16th Tour de Pakistan cycling race was on a route agreed upon by all the participants of the tournament. The signatories to the route were Army, Pakistan Railway, Sui Southern Gas Corporation (SSGC), Wapda, and four provincial teams. 16th
Tour de Pakistan will end at Abbottabad on 20 March after the completion of the 1620 kilometres. Cyclists are competing for the prize money of $10,000. The ten stage race will start on Sunday when the cyclist will race from Gujarat to Rawalpindi.
