Hashan Tillakaratne to reveal players involved in match-fixing soon: Cricket News
Former Sri Lanka captain, Hashan Tillakaratne, has said that he will reveal the names of the players involved in match-fixing to the International Cricket Council at an appropriate time.
The cricketer-turned-politician had recently revealed that match-fixing was prevalent in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 cricket since 1992. He also reaffirmed his statement to Western Provincial Council on Tuesday.
Tillakaratne stated that he will stand on his statement which he made earlier to confirm the names of those involved in match-fixing during the 90s.
He said, “After I came out with these allegations I have been getting a lot of nuisance calls, death threats, but definitely I will expose all those who are involved in a time to come”.
Tillakaratne said that he will follow the procedure of working with the ICC Anti Corruption and Security Unit soon.
The former Sri Lanka captain did not clearly specify when does he plans to reveal the names of the players. However, Sri Lanka Cricket has expressed its concern over the allegations made by Tillakaratne and asked for a 'concrete evidence' from him.
The Sri Lankan Cricket board stated, “We also wish to state that we find it extremely strange that these so-called ‘revelations’ are being made so many years after the alleged misdeeds.”
According to sources, the board has also discussed the matter with the Sports Minister of Sri Lanka, Mahindananda Aluthgamage, who has ordered to take serious measures over the allegations made by the former cricketer.
Former skipper, Tillakaratne added that he was scared to reveal the names previously, as he was getting life threats by various bookmakers and other alleged people. However, he said he is now completely firm on his stance and ready to give the names to the
board.
In yester years, many cricketers were found guilty for their involvement in the crime of match-fixing. Many international players including Indian http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mohammad-Azharuddin-c76823, Ajay Jadeja, SA’s Hansie Cronje and Pakistan’s Saleem Malik were involved in match-fixing,
for which they were served with life bans.
Recently, the trio of the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 cricket Salman Butt, Mohammad Asif and Mohammad Amir were sentenced to at a five-year ban from the Anti-Corruption tribunal of International Cricket Council (ICC) for their involvement in spot-fixing during the Lords Test
in England.
