Hashim Amla insists South Africa all set to face India – ICC World Cup 2011 news
Prolific South Africa opener Hashim Amla insisted on Thursday that his side had overcome the shock defeat against England and were well prepared to face tournament hot favourites, India at the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Vidarbha-c860 Cricket Association Stadium in
Nagpur this Saturday.
Amla said that the pressure would be more on India as they will be playing under the burden of expectations. He added that the roaring Jamtha crowd would give South Africa another litmus test and Amla was confident his side would turn
the heat on the co-hosts.
“The pressure will be more on India as there will be expectations,” said Amla while talking to the media after a practice session at the VCA Stadium. “We have played in front of big crowds before. It won't be a major problem, taking
the noise factor into consideration. It is a big occasion. I think our guys will enjoy playing in front of big crowds.”
The Proteas defeated India by 3-2 in their last One Day International series and Amla feels it would earn them a psychological edge over the Men in Blue. However, he did agree that the conditions would be different as the series win
had come in South African conditions. He further added that the VCA wicket would be a challenge for the visiting batsmen as well as the bowlers.
The 27-year-old Natal batsman said that the Proteas have learnt their lessons from the humiliating 6-run defeat against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750.
“We learnt our lessons. I think myself and the top order need to bat as long as possible,” said Amla. “The break has been good for us. We had good training sessions here. The guys are pretty relaxed and confident.”
Amla, the world’s number one ODI batsman, has some good memories attached with the Jamtha venue where he notched a double century in a Test match in 2010 which helped http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 crush India by an innings and 6 runs.
He was hopeful that Saturday’s game would give them some more fond memories of the VCA Stadium.
