South African star batsman, Hashim Amla, maybe enjoying the best form of his career after scoring his third century in the ongoing English tour, but the 29-year-old batsman tried to play down his brilliance with the bat, in his typical modest way.
“Things are falling in place for me at the moment,” the stylish right-handed batsman said after scoring his tenth ODI century.
The South African vice-captain was the key to his side’s comprehensive victory against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c749 during the second ODI of the NatWest series at Southampton. The right-hander was in an imperious touch as he smashed a career-best 150, and was subsequently declared
the Man-of-the-Match.
"It definitely felt like one of my better ODI innings. What makes it special to me is that it was a difficult wicket and we won the game,” the batsman said.
Amla became the fastest man in ODI history to reach 3000 runs in only his 57th ODI innings, surpassing the great Viv Richards, who required 69 innings to achieve the same feat. He further extended his lead on the points table as the leading ODI
batsman in the world.
"It's a lot more challenging with two new white balls up-front and there was a period in the middle of the innings when the spinners were on, there was some turn and I had to tread carefully and build a partnership. It was definitely one of the innings I've
most enjoyed," he said.
