Hashimoto Yui knocks out Evgenia Dimova to land title berth at Russia Open Grand Prix 2012
Japan’s spirited shuttler Hashimoto Yui stunned everyone by landing a title berth as she easily knocked out her local challenger Evgenia Dimova in Women’s Singles semi-final at the Russia Open Grand Prix 2012 on Saturday, June 30, in Russia.
The un-seeded Hashimoto, who has been consistently delivering impressive performance in all round matches in Russia Open, continued her dominating run and overpowered the in-form Evgenia in a striking fashion.
The Japanese player was one class above her Russian rival in all aspects of the game as she played with confidence and impressive control and easily proved her elevated position on court by ending the match in straight games with an incredible margin.
Evgenia, on the other hand, failed to make her home crowd cheering as she could not put up strong performance in the semi-final contest against her spirited Japanese opponent and lost to her easily in two games without showing a strong character.
In the first game, Evgenia did not show any sign of confusion in opening rallies and also put up strong show until 6-6 when Hashimoto started to gear up her speed and set up a wonderful lead of 11-7 until the mid-game interval.
After the break, the Japanese lady got the full control of rallies without facing any tough opposition from her Russian opponent.
The powerful smashes and perfect drives of Hashimoto spared no chance for Evgenia to fight back in the game by bridging the huge gap.
Japanese player dictated the pace of rallies in all areas and won the first game with a considerable ease by a huge 21-9 margin on the score board.
In the following game, Hashimoto showed a little urgency as she played fast and attacking badminton and took a tremendous lead of 11-3 until the end of first half.
After the break, the in-form Japanese lady continued her roller-coaster run on court as she was taking the bird early from everywhere and clinched the game with a 21-12 score on the board.
The aggressive Hashimoto emerged as victorious in this 28-minute Women’s Singles semi-final showdown with a one-sided score of 21-9 and 21-12.
