Hashimoto Yui marches into Women’s Singles quarter-finals of Russia Open Grand Prix 2012
Japan’s talented female shuttler Hashimoto Yui made swift progress on the opening day of the Russia Open Grand Prix tournament and became first Women’s Singles quarter-finalist on June 27, 2012.
Though, the sudden walkover by her compatriot shuttler Minatsu Mitani played a vital role in her advancement but she had laid the foundation by stamping Tatjana Bibik in first round of the event.
The Japanese girl proved her point by passing 60-minute test with distinctive result of 20-22, 21-10 and 21-11.
She played with authoritative approach throughout three gruelling sets and locked the honour despite of losing opening game of the match.
On the other hand, the local campaigner Tatjana Bibik could not capitalise on that early advantage and disappointed her supporters in the last sets.
In first set of match, the Russian shuttler was bit sluggish at the start as she was at lower end until mid-game break.
Hashimoto Yui gained an immediate advantage with respectable score position of six and then made the best out of it by registering 11-7 total in the first half.
After one-minute interval, Tatjana gathered four points in a row and caught her rival at 11-11. She gave tough competition in final moments and remained close until 19-19.
At this critical stage, she clinched three ending points and finished this race with a tight yet decisive margin of 22-20.
However, second set completely changed the scenario as Japanese campaigner stormed back to balance the scale.
This time she launched a brisk attack and reached at 5-2 in no time. She maintained this three-point lead until interval and placed a decent total of 11-8.
Later part of the game completely belonged to Hashimoto as she pocketed ten out of last twelve points and wrapped the show with concluding figure of 21-10.
She kept dictating her competitor in the decider and made this crucial set completely one-sided affair. She established a comfortable lead by prevailing in seven continuous rallies and reached at a dominating position of 11-4.
Hashimoto did not lose this rhythm in second half and sealed a splendid victory with a notable difference in 21-11 margin.
However, there was no more hurdles en-route to quarter-finals as her next challenger Minatsu Mitani paved a path to victory by conceding a walkover.
