Hasn't IPL proved that Dhooni was absolutely correct in saying T20 is meant for younger players?

I too used to think likewise. But now, after seeing the IPLmatches, I am coming to a new theory. It is the batsmen who have to make the maximum changes in attitude and technique. The existing test batting greats have not had it their way as the change expected from them is the greatest. The only exception is Gilly, who in any case is a freak, in the extreme positive sense of the word and was way ahead of his times.

The batsmen who have shone here are the newcomers or fringe players who have not fully molded themselves in the test or one day style of playing and hence have got open minds.

On the other hand, the bowlers require a lesser amount of adjustment and hence the bowling regulars are doing very well. Greats like McGrath, Warne, Zaheer, Irfan RP are excelling as they have to just block the runs and let the batsmen make all the mistakes.

Why give the credit to Dhoni alone? T20/20 is not only about

youth, but many other senior players excel too. Look at Warne,

McGrath, Gilly, Boucher, Misbah, Ganguly and many more. They

all have done fairly well.

Yes of course it is for youth, but selectors did choose a young

team and most importantly they played as a team and crucial

contribution made them to win the WC.

There are many youngsters who are having hard time with this

format of the game and many seniors as well.

Hence it is not only seniors but also youth as well.

Jaisuriya might come good in this form of cricket and for him it is just a matter of playing one good innings but for the other 3 it is more or less curtains.

They game is not for batsmen waiting for loose deliveries b'coz as rightly said this is slam bang cricket for aggressive batsmen and accurate bowlers.

T20 is the future of cricket b'coz it is an entertainment package for all.

well gilchrist, warne, mcgrath and pollock have all retired, and they all seem to be doing pretty well over there, so no i dont think T20 is just for younger players, top class players will always adapt to any format and do well
