Hasn’t the Leaving Cert become dumbed down too much?

In our day you were happy if you got an honour in a subject. Nowadays they talk about all their A1’s as if they’re like confetti at a wedding!

Sher the whole thing has gone to wrack and ruin………..

and as for maths dat was another A1. all those therums with the learning of the sin cosine, and somethin else, i earned my marks!

Those tw@ts that got all the A1s really got on my t!ts today. " Oh yeah, like, it was a total surprise. I didn't expect to get 72 As". THEN WHY DID YOU APPLY FOR MEDICINE YOU ANNOYING BINTS?

My lil bro failed Maths. That was the only one. So it has definitely been dumbed down because he tried his damnedest to fail them all.

No,the ones that get that bust their guts getting those results.Fair play to them.The difference now is the competition for Uni places is putting more pressure on kids to gain maximum points.My eldest got in the high 500's ten years ago.There wasn't the pressure to max out then so he was able to study to the degree required to get him through and still have a life.Nowadays these kids are having to pretty much go at it full tilt all year every year up to the leaving and it's just too much pressure on them.They need to make more places available and folk need to start appreciating these kids that work their butts off.

I got 2B's 4C's 4D's and a E (Irish.....shudder) for my junior cert. So no I don't think it's dumbed down.

I agree. It's now much easier to get high marks, the curriculum used to be different.
