I live in the Far East and will watch this match early in the morning on October 14th, the date French won against the English in Hastings then soon after French king Guillaume took over the English throne.

  1. yep I'll be cheering for ya (both teams actually), it will be a glorious day to the winner of this semis, I must say both teams have a vocal fan group on here with some hilarious answers as to who will win - rugby will be the winner.... hehehe, cheers mate good luck to both the French and England....

  2. !990 was the other battle of Hastings when Gavin of that name won the grand slam for the Scots..But getting back to the present..think you should be alright..keep an eye out for their archers..but not like Harold did!

    What's next? 'Rorke's Drift'??

  3. Well I'll be cheering for the English - but the French just might win if they manage to get an arrow in Jonny's eye!!   I think it will be a great game - very evenly matched for passion.  The French will have the edge with their home turf but the English seem to be getting better and want to retain the Cup!!  Vive l'angleterre but bon chance France aussi!!

  4. glad you remenber that because i cant think of many times the french beat the english.

  5. But its being played on the 13th not the 14th. Current time mate, not yourtime!

Plus also the French King did not take over the throne of England.

  6. Willie the Conq was actually Norman (Danish), not French and he was in dispute with the King of France. Now as we are English, a mixture of Anglo Saxon, Norman and various other nationalities, it can be argued that we, The English, are actually descendants of the winners of the Battle of Hastings!

So yes, let history repeat itself, England to upset France yet again and spoil their World Cup ambitions.

  7. The French won the battle of Hastings, and haven't won much since. It will be an English triumph

  8. So, its a game of rugby compared to ancient history,

    Who Cares?

  9. I guess the players didn't remember the significance.

    Come on England!!!

  10. I am supporting the English But History does have a habit of repeating itself

    What will be will be

  11. Guillaume was the duke of Normandy, a Dane. A nation just interested in soccer today...And Hastings was a scrum without any rule.
