  1. A dominant gene is the gene w/ a capital letter (Rr. the R is dominant) this means, that it is "more powerful/important" than the recessive. the recessive is the "less powerful" it only shows up when there are no "R's" and only "r's" if you have the Rr, it means that you have the recessive trait, but it doesnt show because the dominant trait covers it.

  2. dominant is expressed, everytime that it is present either time

ex: R (red, dominant) and r (white, recessive)

    Rr: Red, dominant expressed

    RR: red, dominant expressed

recessive is only expressed when it is with another recessive.  must be homozogous

    ex:

    rr: white

  3. a dominant gene is the gene that determines what the outcome will be (represented by a capital letter) and a recessive gene is usually the "masked gene" (represented by a lower case letter) then if the genotypes from the parents for a specific trait are RR(two dominant alleles) and rr(two recessive alleles) then when you cross them the outcome will be Rr which would code for whatever the dominant allele allele is because it overpowers the recessive allele.  Sorry if this was confusing and it might be if you didn't really learn about it in school yet.

  4. Dominant gene means that physical or psychological trait will show up more often throughout the generations than the recessive one, brown eyes is a dominant gene and blue eyes is recessive, meaning for every 5 generations maybe 1-2 of the kids down your bloodline will end up with blue eyes, the majority having brown because the gene is dominant
