Barges are used in water transportation of cargo like Coal, Grains etc. At the time of makeing the Barges some fitting is required on deck like Hatchs, Kevel Chock, Double Bitt, Roller Chock etc.

  1. i dont see a question here,  yes, barges are used to move cargo in inland water to/from inland locations to ports where the cargo can be loaded/unloaded from ocean ships.

    some barges do indeed have covers, either fiberglass lift covers or steel lift covers or older barges may have steel roller covers.  

    they also will have hatch covers on the manholes to the void spaces (btwn cargo hopper/tanks and outer hull/skin)

    barges may also be fitted with some sort of cleats, bitts, roller chocks, etc as you mentioned.

    what exactly is our question here?
