  1. Your question gives a lot of information, but there are more questoins from that information.  Your conure may have destroyed the chick by accident, in which case, you have nothing to worry about at all.  She will be very careful in the future and it is unlikely that there will be any moree accidents.  If, on the other hand, she KILLED the chick, you have to make some judgements:  why did she kill the chick?  Inexcperience?  If that's the case, then she is unlikely to do the same thing again if she has not done it to the second chick (or any that may have hatched since you asked the question)  Were you too involved in the hatching for her comfort?  Well if that's the case, then you might WANT to have to raise the chicks yourself.  Oh, I would not want to do that, but that's just me.  Remember that the sweetest bird in the world changes when she turns into a parent and you may have been intrusive without realizing it.  There is also the possiblity that there was something wrong with the chick and that is why she killed it.  That is a very unlikely prrospect as you said she is inexperienced.  Please remember that conures are really quite prolific and will do fine with minimal interference from us.  Checking on them twice a day should be enough.  That said, of course if you see she is not caring for her babies, but instead, being aggressive, by all means remove them and care for them where she can see you.  Perhaps she will start to care for them in a few days when she knows what she is supposed to do.  And maybe she is not meant to breed just yet.  You did not say how old the parents are or how long they were bonded before they started to breed.

  2. Hi There,

If the babies have hatched  they have already heard  the mother and are begining to reconise the mother rather than you. I would say leave the babies with the mother and/or father. It is part of nature to let it take it's course, if anything strange and "violent" going on in the cage remove both parents and take the babies, there shouldn't be any risk of injury when the babies are this young.
