I own 3 Blue swedish ducks.

they are almost ayear old now and arent too fond of me.

I started out with 5 and i unfortunatly drowned.... please this isnt a joke. and the other one got lead poisoning and a friend payed so i gave it to her.

I had a very special bond with the one i gave away and my other three arent too social.

I admit it is all my fault for giving the other more attention.

But i ordered 7 more hatching eggs.

it is the first time im hatching duck eggs.

i have a real incubatior and everythings set!

I want to hold one of the duck eggs while it hatched so it will have a special bond with me.

is that a good idea?

im going to let the baby pip the egg and then some before i remove it.

Im NOT going to help it out of the egg just be there.

Im going to keep 2 duckings and sell the rest.

Any sugestions on creating a special bond with one of the ducklings???

  1. Hi,

This is a very stupid idea, Have you really thought about what you have written here???

You want to remove an hatching eggs from the perfect environment and hold it???? How stupid is that? It's not only stupid the duckling could die! Ducklings need a 70% humidity level around the egg to hatch succesfully.

If you wait until they hatch, be the first thing they see, this way they'll bond with you, To bond with it you'll have to be with it 24/7 and for the first week keep it at 30°C.

  2. Lol! you're too funny!

Stick a worm in ya mouth n feed your duck just like its mother would.

  3. haha what kinda duck drowns?

  4. If the mother is around, you should let her raise the duck to be a duck. It will  imprint you as the mother if you are the one it sees often after birth and you are it's primary care giver.

Birds that are raised by humans alone are generally not "normal". It isn't good for the bird and should be avoided if possible.

I hate to break it to you, but you are not a Blue Swedish Duck mother.

  5. Well, if possible, you could give special attention to the one of interest. When it hatches, you might want to put a drop of food coloring on its down that way you can tell which is yours.

If they're anything like chickens, they'll need to stay under a heat lamp for a while, so set up a comfortable nesting area for your ducklings.

Hold the duckling when it is first hatched, making sure you are the first thing it sees. Pick it up daily, but don't chase after it with your hand; that'll frighten your duck and turn it against you.

Feed and water your ducklings daily, and don't forget to change their bedding when needed. Through in some live insects, it's really fun to watch them chase eachother after it. Like football!

Give your duck a treat or something every now and then, and don't abandon it when it gets older and loses its cuteness.
