Pardew’s wing. The French winger played a massive role in Newcastle United’s recently concluded Premier League season where they missed out on a UEFA Champions League place on the very last day of the season.
When the previous league season kicked off, many people regarded Newcastle United as a spend force and only capable of cementing a place in the mid table order of things in the Premier League table. However with Ben Arfa and Cabaye
in their ranks, Newcastle United slowly surged up the table and even recorded a comprehensive win over Manchester United at their home stadium.
The Magpies were in contention for a UEFA Champions League place throughout the season but on the very last day of the season their lack of a result meant that there would be no European football for them next season. Nonetheless
it can be said that foundations have been laid down for another impressive charge next season and with a few minor additions to their talented squad, maybe Newcastle United can be the surprise package one again.
Ben Arfa said, "I've never felt as settled at a club as I do at Newcastle. I feel like I'm somebody important there, it's a magnificent feeling. I haven't forgotten the coach made me sign, even though I was only on loan from Marseille
and I was injured.”
He added, "If I do not have a really, really serious proposal, I'll stay. If a big club comes, but does not propose something interesting - that is to say, the coach really wants me - I'll stay. If I do not feel the confidence
of the [interested club's] coach 100 per cent, I will not leave. Newcastle is a big club, even if there are bigger. I still have a three-year contract."
