He is getting on with his life bravely despite having Parkinsons, and making no fuss. He was a great player, many say he could have played on the continent with ease like Archibald did. Who else would you say could have fitted in in the likes of Serie A etc?...Davie Cooper is another good example.

  1. Aye it was a shame to hear that but he says it's only a mild form of it and it wont affect him from getting on with the job. Unfortunatley I'm no old enough to remember him playing but from what I've seen and heard he was up there with the best of them.

  2. LUGGYS An ARAB

  3. good luck to him..it's an awful thing but he is showing he is a fighter ...we could all take a leaf out of people like these books

  4. Best wishes.

  5. THERE ARE SO MANY LEGENDS OF SCOTTISH FOOTBALL WHO WOULD HAVE SLOTTED INTO ANY LEAGUE IN THE WORLD

  6. Parkinson's is wicked and it's sad to see a battler and a brilliant player succumb to this illness, get the tributes in well before his memory goes as Parkinson's takes absolutely everything away and they are nowhere near a cure, it's soul destroying !! A wee tribute, a statue near the ground or such ! The image of him hands on hips, socks at ankles, nae shin pads   and raring to go will stay with many people, fans and fellow pro's alike x he reminded me of Kenny and Beardsley especially, he was up there ! Thoughts and best wishes are with all concerned x  other scottish players that could have cut it.... Jinky and all the other Lisbon Lions, Tommy Burns, Jim Baxter, King Kenny (D!),Maurice Malpas, John Robertson, Eammon Bannon, Davie Cooper  (my uncle Peter was his spitting image!!), Archie Gemmell, John Greig, Paul McStay, all of the Hibees Famous Five and the Jambo's Terrible Trio, Chic Charnley, Danny McGrain, Eric Black, Willie Miller, Alex McLeish, Billy Bremner.....we have had some world class players ! Not so many in the recent past though ! We can hold our heads up in that regard !!! We're all Jock Tamson's bairns are we not ?!!

  7. luggy was a playing legend at tannadice, a fantastic player, would have got many more caps if his style hadn't been so similar to dalglish.  could easily have played at the top level, although THAT united team was top level and Narey, Bannon and Malpas would have graced any league.  Not to mention Hegarty, Kirkwood, Milne, Holt, McAlpine and er, Davie Dodds.

  8. Yes he's definitely a battler. The Owls fans were in uproar when he was sacked. He could have played the sympathy vote but he said nothing. x

  9. Agreed

    Alan Hansen,Dalglish,All of the lisbon lions,Dave Smith,Baxter,Henderson,Davie Hay,etc

  10. the last thing paul sturrock would want is sympathy. He has my utmost admiration and is a role model to us all. Good luck to him and his. Parkinsons was one of the illnesses that held out great hope of a cure after genetic mapping but unfortunately nothing yet.

Aye, Flangee, that DU team was something special to watch and full of character and talent.
