Hatton Promotions does it fancy with Denton Vassell
Somebody keep an eye on Ricky Hatton at the bar.
Hatton Promotions, the boxing promotional company headed by troubled former fighter Ricky Hatton, has announced that it will stage a charity dinner show at Manchester’s Palace Hotel on December 4 with star fighter Denton Vassell playing the lead role.
Vassell, an undefeated welterweight from Manchester, will defend his Commonwealth title for the first time against an opponent yet to be named in the show’s main event.
Two other fights will appear on the card, showcasing up-and-coming Hatton Promotion prospects.
According to the promotional company, the event will be a black and white affair, with an array of British stars and celebrities in attendance.
Entertainment will be headed by an Elvis Presley impersonator, and tickets will go from £750.00 to £1250.00. Hatton Promotions will also reserve 200 tickets (£50.00) for fans who merely wish to come after dinner solely for the boxing card.
Hatton Promotions CEO Gareth Williams confirmed: “There have been dinner shows before title fights, but none of this quality. It will be a special night where companies can have Christmas parties or friends who want a night out over the holiday period can
enjoy a fantastic evening.”
Williams suggested money will be raised for “worthwhile causes.”
Vassell (15-0, 8 KOs) was awarded the ABA title in 2006, and won the Commonwealth crown by outscoring Lee Purdy in April.
In terms of British welterweights he is rated seventh, behind the likes of Kell Brook (22-0, 15 KOs) and Matthew Hatton (40-4, 15 KOs).
Hatton Promotions is looking to show itself in good order following the widely-covered disgrace of Ricky Hatton in September. Hatton was admitted to a rehabilitation facility after photos and a video of him snorting cocaine emerged in the UK, spurring revelations
that the former boxing champion was depressed.
Since his time in rehab Hatton has apologized fans and asked them for their support to help him through the difficult time.
