Hatton Vs Pacquiao, Who Wins now ?

Before watching the pacman destroy Diaz last night i was of the opinion that Hatton would be too big and that the pacman wouldnt carry his punch or speed up with him through the weights, after watching that last night i think Hatton could be in big big trouble against Manny, it looks like anybody who wants to stand in front of Manny which Hatton will do gets destroyed, the only chance nowadays to beat him is try and outbox him but nobody seems to be able to do it, if JMM cant i cant see it happening. Before i had Hatton after last night i am thinking Pacquiao, what are everyone elses opinions ?

  1. Pacquaio  would make minse meat out of Hatton. especially since Hatton doesn't move his head enough

  2. While Hatton smothers his own offense, he will also smother Pacquio's offense as well.  The difference maker in this fight will be Hatton's physical size advantage allowing him to pound out a decision win.  Early on in Pac's career, he suffered 2 one-punch KO's, and I think Hatton could stun Pac early to force Manny to change tactics.

  3. Short answer is, who knows?

If this fight happens I think it's going to be an all time classic. The style of both the fighters means an all out slugfest.

I think Manny may land more clean shots? maybe possibly. But thats not to say Hatton won't land a few bombs either.. it could go either way it really could..

Now it might be just the fact that the majority is going with Manny and I want to be different, but if I had to choose I've just got this feeling that Hatton would edge him. Not based on anything in particular just a feeling.

  4. I think Manny will beat the sh*t and every drop of blood out of Hatton.  I read that Hatton had been watching Manny's tapes  and had indicated that Manny is way too quick for him.

  5. Hatton is the most overratted boxer now, even lazcano had him hurt, im sorry he's just not that good, let's look at that knock out again vs floyd mayweather, daaaamn, did the corner knock him out to.

  6. I have to agree with Elmer and Peter H on this on. I think Hatton would make this an ugly fight, taking some of the action away by limiting Pacquiao offensive output, due to his smoothering style.

  7. It would be a great fight because of the styles, no doubt about it, but Hatton gets hit an awful lot and that's a bad thing against Manny. Hatton's style actually plays right into Manny's hands. The way to beat Manny is to box aggressively but be smart, much like Marco Antonio Barrera beat Prince Naseem Hamed. Hatton will try to overwhelm Manny with his brawling style and that will be a mistake. I'm sure that Manny can carry his power up 5 more pounds to 140. Nobody thought he could KO David Diaz with one shot, but Manny is special fighter that seems to be only getting better. I see Manny stopping Hatton late in a great fight. Pacquiao TKO11 Hatton.

  8. The only chance Hatton would have is if Manny got tired in later rounds. If you saw what happened in round 7 of the Diaz fight, Diaz was on top for a bit of it simply because Manny tired, then you'll know that it is possible. However I don't think Hatton will be able to KO manny after taking punch after punch after punch and I will predict a unanimous desicion Manny's way, 116-113, 118-112, 117-112. Only one knockdown, with Hatton hitting the canvas in Round 9.

  9. Manny Pacquiao once and for all defied all notions among boxers that packing in extra pounds would affect speed and putting in power punches. In his most recent fight with David Diaz last night (06/28/08)), Pac-man seemed far more sharp, much quicker and a solid power puncher. As he moves from one weight class to another, he brings in him maturity in his moves and wisdom to elude counter punches from his opponents. Though Pac-man already stood the test of time and challenges, a fight to Ricky Hatton would be a thrilling and overly spectacular one. Pacquiao would just have to keep up maintaining his overall strength and quickness to overcome Hatton. Though Hatton is an inch taller than Pac-man, he'll definitely get load of punishments from Pac-man as rounds progress. No doubt, Pacquiao should be the no. 1 pound for pound fighter now in the boxing books.

  10. first of all jmm did outbox manny. And second manny needs to fight someone with power like cassamayor or bampbel before moving up to 140 and face hatton

  11. Ok, Juan Lazcano cant punch worth **** and still stunned hatton a couple of times. What do you think pacquiao will do? Pacquiao is faster, stronger then juan lazcano. The factor will be on wether pacquiao moves up to fight hatton, or if hatton moves down.

  12. 1st thing pac man is pound 4 pound and do not miss any world titles fight or any for that matter and he is also one of my best boxers ive seen

he just beat diaz and looked like roy jones at his best

but ive  watched daiz and about for times now his last 4 that went 12 rounds he won them but  i would say he losed  them all. as a boxer  i dout if he is in the top 100 today as being tough is not saying your a great boxer witch we seen as he not a great boxer just tough.

last time jmm give manny a good taste of power and run him close a draw was fair that nite

so just think of hatton what he brings at 140  he is so strong and is looking after hiself now he is with jenny cooking and staying in more.

if   you think pac man will be like that with hatton then thats ok its up to you have the rite to that.

but look at some others cotto v gomez gomez v gatti.

hey pac mans the best today diaz was tough and thats it .

hatton would of smashed diaz to bits even better than manny

did no problem and manny would give hatton somting to think about for sure but htton is not diaz.

hatton is way way to strong for pac man one of those body shots  pac man wont get up hope it happens thought.

  13. Hatton wins simply because Pacquiao will come to him and I do believe Hatton is the harder puncher and his speed is overlooked.

  14. Manny "Pac man" Pacquiao is on a roll... If he keeps working hard, and improving who can stop him?

  15. Hatton doesn't have Manny's speed.  He's not a traditional boxer.  When he gets tired he'll just keep holding like he always does.  Manny will tire him out and beat the living c**p out of him.

  16. I watched the fight last night and i think Pacquaio is relentless in his punching, he shows no mercy, Hatton has a fight on his hands if the fight is made in the first place.

  17. Pacquiao fought a career best fight, he certainly has a claim as the #1 pound for pound in the world right now....but Ricky Hatton isn't David Diaz.

Hatton walks around at about 180 pounds, cuts down to 140 then bulks up to around 150+, he is in no way shape or form a lightweight.  Manny showed great handspeed and movement; Hatton's fight plan, every fight, is to smother and neutralize movement and handspeed.

Pac was extremely impressive last night, but when talking about a fight with Ricky, one of the things that stood out was that despite the clean hard shots Manny was landing, and the number of them landed in combination, it still took him 9 rounds of sustained punishment to put Diaz on the ground - that tells me that while he is hard puncher at 135, he isn't a homerun hitter at this weight, and at 140 his one punch power will be even more diluted.  If he can't keep Hatton honest with power, he could get bullied and mauled into submission.

I think Manny is perfect right now for the sport - but I think if this fight happens too quickly its absoutley the wrong matchup for him.  Hatton is pretty one-dimensional, but that one dimension is like kryptonite for Manny's fluid, popping in and out style.  Hatton will either pounce on him and nullify the quick "pop ins" or grab and take out way his ability to "pop out".
