When you walk upstairs in my house, the floor makes these series of creeks that always sound the same. When we are watching TV, we hear those creeks sometimes even though all animals are with us. paranormal? or house stretching?

  1. I am a paranormal investigator and this activity has happened on a few of our cases and all were debunked due to animals, the house settling, nature such as wind etc. before approaching it as paranormal there are endless possibilities to what it could be :) i never say anything is paranormal unless the explanations cannot be backed up by science!

  2. stairs normally do have a break in period and i wouldnt call that a paranormal experience, unless there are other signs that could point to a possible paranormal activity

  3. it could possibly be both.

    try to debunk it yourself...

use a digital voice recorder and record the source of the creeks during different activities of the day...  and who knows...you may catch a voice or something

  4. most likely the house is swelling and contracting. Most houses do this, especially very old ones. The wood used in houses older than 50 years or so was not kiln dried or pressure treated and is especially prone to weather conditions.

  5. Probably more along the lines of house stretching.  The old place I live in creaks all the time.

  6. I'd like to know since when does a creaking board equal haunted house?  If there are ghosts they have no physical mass so they can't make boards creak.  If they could anyway why would they?

This is symptomatic so many true believers.  (Not all of course.)  Anything anomalous automatically equals paranormal.
