Question:

Haunted pond takes children?

I seem to remember from some time ago, reading a ghost story that centered around a pond (which may have been on an island away from the mainland, such as Hawaii). It was written as factual. It seems that at some point, a young boy had fallen (or been pulled) into this pond, and drowned. When the body was recovered, it had been sitting cross-legged on a rock at the bottom, with arms stretched forward as if to hug. Not unusual, except that apparently this same situation happened repeatedly thereafter, with all the children being found in the same spot, in the same pose.

For some reason, this story always stuck with me, though I rarely bother with ghost stories. Now I can find no record of it, nor can I figure out where I read about it.

Anybody have any idea where this came from?

  1. Hmm... that sounds really interesting (and scary!)  Perhaps there was a strong underwater current in the pond, although that hardly explains the repeated position.  I guess there's just some things we aren't meant to understand, eh?  Of course, that's assuming that it's an actual account and not a fictional story (which, sadly, happens quite often with horror stories; they usually sell better if people think they're real).  I'm afraid I don't know the origin of the story, but if you can remember any other details (eg. Island name) then maybe you can google it?  I generally use the site http://www. unexplained-mysteries.com for all my supernatural stories; you might want to check if it's there!

    Hope this helps!
