  1. Just one day in Madrid... choose one or two places and take it easy, sit down in a terraza and enjoy you're day. Don't try to visit more than 4 places in one day or you won't enjoy anything. In Barcelona the best thing to do is visiting el barri Gótic, the shops in paseo de gracia and the modernist buildings, plaza España and montjuic, the beach in villa Olimpica and take the tram from there, stopping in Plaza Glories to visit Tower Agbar and continue up to the Forum. There are many museums but I recommend you The MACBA (contemporany art) in el Raval. And the Sagrada Familia is a must, but don't worry take it easy and leave the rest for the next time you come to visit us.

  2. I live in Madrid and one day is way too short but... I guess that's all you have.

It depends what are you on. If you like art don't miss Museo del Prado and Museo Reina Sofia (free entrance from 14:30 on saturdays). But having so short time I'd just have a walk and a nice lunch and dinner. If you like football, you'd probably want to go to Real Madrid "Santiago Bernabeu" Stadium. Anyway, I wouldn't lose my time in such things.

This is the route that follows one of those touristic buses. It's mainly what you should visit. Just have a look on google maps 'cause it's a long way and narrow it to what you can afford. Using  one of this buses is another idea to save time:
