Have 1950's phone which works, just doesn't ring. Can anyone pls let me know what size transistor I need?

  1. Definitely more information needed to be able to even start to say what might be wrong.   It is highly likely that it just isn't correctly wired for the modern jack system, since the wiring of the ringers changed significantly when the jacks were introduced in the early 1980s.

    We can't even be sure of the phone type from just "1950s," since even just in the old GPO models there were the 300-series and the 700-series which were introduced at the very end of the decade, in several variants.


  2. ? It doesn,t use transistors! Could be a wiring fault,faulty bell coils,bent armature,missing parts, or, just incorrectly wired for use on modern phone sockets.

    What sort of phone is it?

    How is it connected to your phone line?

    Has it ever rung?

    More info needed!
