has anyone seen or heard of a virus that only works on wireless keyboards and open programs by themselves, adjusts volume on its own, hangs the computer for a while. enter keys that havent been entered?

If so do you know of a tool to remove it? Mcfee doesn't find it.

  1. Sounds like a trojan. Mcfee is a poor virus scanner. Norton is alright for a store bought virus scanner.

The best way to check for a lot of viruses is:

    Click Start

    Click Run

    Type msconfig

    Click on start-up tab

    Disable anything unusual

    or

    Download spy-bot

  2. My first guess, either the wireless keyboard you bought is *sticky* i.e. the keys are sticking to the base board(underneath the keys) or the keyboard is faulty (due to a short circuit or so)

    Solution

    - If you have warranty, check with the manufacturer to get it fixed/ replaced.

    - Or, try the keyboard on a different computer.

-- if it didnt work on the 2nd computer, you could say that its a faulty keyboard.

-- if it worked on the 2nd, then try to see whats different in these 2 computers

-- there is also tje possibility of a virus/trojan. Try anti spyware utilities to see if there are any trojans in ur computer.

  3. I suspect the your neighbour also have a wireless keyboard and his signal is stronger than yours. So he is doing all those stuff on his PC but the wireless signal are also sent to your PC.

Use back the normal keyboard and see whether the situation will improve. If not, install Clamwin.

ClamWin is a Free Antivirus for Microsoft Windows

that uses the GNU General Public License by the Free Software

Foundation and is free (as in freedom) software.

    How to configure ClamWin

    http://support.real-time.com/open-source...

Update the latest anti-virus definition files.

Set the preferences to delete or move virus to a quarantine folder.

Boot up the infected PC in safe mode [press F8 during boot up].

Scan all hard drives for viruses.

  4. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! No. Check you firewall and use a virus scan immeadialty.

  5. That is the most unbelievable situation I've ever heard. I think you got scammed by the keyboard seller.

  6. If it only happens when you press key, turn your keyboard upside down and check it for liquid/food.

Happened to me on two keyboards after spilling a little water in it. :P

Or it could be the wireless getting weird.. never liked wireless keyboards/mice.

  7. hurry and do a virus scan before your computer is in the grave

  8. Sounds like malware, some of which also remove restore points completely. Try the following free programs:

Download, install, update and select Full Scan.

Remove all infections that it finds after scan.

    How to use:

    http://cotojo.wordpress.com/2008/07/07

If the problem persists, turn OFF System Restore and scan with the above programs in Safe Mode, Right click My computer > select Properties > System Restore Tab > Tick Turn Off System restore on all drives.

After scans are complete and machine is clean remember to turn system restore back ON and create a new restore point.

Once your scans are complete and your machine is clean, uninstall some of the programs, I suggest that you keep Malwarebytes for manual scanning, Spyware Doctor for realtime monitoring and Spybot. The remainder can be removed to save drive space, but you may want to keep the installers for future use.

  9. I'm a little shocked. lol

I'm guessing it's the wireless keyboard? My wireless mouse use to just drift around... It was horrible to play games with it...

Just to be on the safe side, run a virus check... McAfee isn't that good... Get Kaspersky trial edition or something.

If you want a free scan, get Avira Personal Edition
