Question:

Have I gained too much? I'm 8 weeks pregnant and have gained 5 pounds..?

Do I need to try to maintain this weight for a while? I have had a huge increase in appetite and have had only nausea, but not in the last few weeks. I started at 143 and I'm 5'7, 148 now.

  1. You are fine.  Some of it may be water weight.  I had gained 8 pounds by that point in my first pregnancy.


  2. Don't worry so much about the weight you're gaining, only what you're eating. Cut out ALL fast food because as much as we crave it, it's not good for you or your baby, and since you're pregnant pretty much every fat you put into your body you keep. I have been eating lots of fruits and vegetables. Fruits are great if you're craving something sweet, try strawberries and milk, watermelon or raspberries. Eat low fat meats such as boneless skinless chicken and steak. As long as you're eating healthy then you have nothing to worry about, women gain weight at different rates. Good luck and congrats!!

  3. No that is not too much, you are supposed to be gaining weight

  5. yikes, slow it down... you shouldn't be gaining weight til at least the 2nd trimester and A LOT more in the third.

  6. Try eating more salds with chicken or another protein in it. I am almost 8 next monday and haven't gained a pound. I even had McDonalds last night - yum! Try walking. I have been really nauseated too and only the carbs seem to help. Sorry about the weight, but if you do need to splurge try to be good for another meal.. it will balance out

  7. slow down...honestly that is too much for 8 weeks.
