Question:

Have I stopped growing already?

I'm female, 16 years old and just below 5"2. I'm the smallest person in my year at school! Sometimes I quite like being small, but other times I hate it, and I was just wondering if there was an average age that most teenage girls stop growing at? Have I already stopped growing?

  2. You usually stop growing at 18 so you are very likely still going to grow

  3. I think that most girls stop growing in height by the time they are 16. I know several adult women who are shorter than 5'2", some of them under 5 feet. Don't feel bad about your height. Being short makes it easier to fit into small spaces, since you can stand up straight when under low ceilings, and you don't have to worry about hitting your head on low-hanging chandeliers or other objects.

  4. The average is around 16 or 17 years, however some girls will continue growing until 20 years.

  5. Don't worry about your height! I'm the same height as you and used to feel the same however I discovered lots of advantages...

    Cheaper Clothes

More variety of shoes (as you're more likely to have smaller feet)

Get into places on a child's ticket

No height issues with guys as you are always smaller than them, so you don't have to worry about not going out with someone because of their height. etc.

In response to your original question though, most girls stop growing about 1-3 years after their first period. However, some girls carry on growing at the very latest up to the age of 18 but this is rare.

There is no point worrying about your height as you can't change it, so just accept it and enjoy all the advantages that come with it!

    Good luck!
