My boyfriend got us a kitten, and we knew we had to take her to the vet for an exam/shots/treatments. However, we have been very financially burdened lately...and just moved into a new place. She is approaching 3 months and we're getting ready to get her to the vet on tuesday. Im worried she might have worms. Although i considered worms a possibility in the beginning, I didnt see any in her p**p and she acts like she is perfectly fine...now i have noticed some blood in the f***s...will she be ok? i know i should have taken her sooner, but how late is too late? thanks!

  1. death is too late, but until then you can still take her.  The blood is probably from the worms.

  2. the kitten shouldn't even be away from her mother until she is 3 months old.  there is a law stating that you cannot give away or sell a baby ct or dog until it is three months old, unless the mother is gone.  more over if you can't afford vet bills then you can't afford the cat.

  3. It is ok to go ahead and take her to the vet. Some vets don't start vaccines until kittens are 9-12 weeks.

The vet will give you something to treat the worms and give the kitten its vaccines. Just make sure you tell him that you have seen blood in her stool, it might be caused by an overinfestation of worms.

  4. im sure shes fine.

if shes been an inside cat, and its only been like 3 months she prolly is alright

  5. Talk to the vet for sure, yet don't freak out, my cat always had blood in her p**p and is fine... she just eats a lot and strains a lot when doing to the bathroom but otherwise she is fine. I get her high fiber food and she is doing better but still overeats. Vet is a must though to make sure she is OK.

  6. if you can't afford the vet find someone who will take care of this kitten.

  7. It's never too late.  Get her there as soon as possible, if she does have worms, they need to treat it immediately.

  8. dont worry u havnt left it 2 long if shes only three months old . im sure she will be fine its not like u have waited a year. and u r not the first person to put a kitten on hold because of your financial situation it might pay you 2 find out if u r entitled 2 help with your vet bills if ur on a low income. or u could go 2 the pdsa they can help out goodluck and try not to worry

  9. It's not too late. Many kittens experience blood in the f***s. They are growing and have sensitive digestive systems.  You need to pay attention to what you are feeding her, a lot of the cheaper cat foods are not of great quality and can be hard to digest. You should look at the ingredients and read the first couple. The first ingredient should not be animal by-products or corn/wheat. Cats are meant to be meat eaters. You kitty probably does have some parasites/worms, it's common in kittens. Just take her to the vet like you said you were going to on tuesday. As long as she is acting healthy and doesn't get tired/sluggish or have discharge coming out of eyes, nose or anywhere else she can wait. Just make sure to take her sooner next time. She really does need her shots.

  10. She is a young kitten and she should do just fine.  When she goes to the vet on Tuesday, make sure you let them know about the blood in the stool..take a fresh sample with you if possible.

Most kittens do have worms and the vet will give her a dewormer during the visit and will send a dose home with you to give two weeks later.  The dewormer is a liquid and is the color and consistancy of pancake batter.  Kittens don't mind it, it apparently has a pleasant taste.  Worms are not usually visible in the stool, unless the kitten is extremely infested, so that is a good sign you haven't seen any.  What the vet will check for in her stool sample will be the microscopic eggs.

Since you are noticing some blood, he/she should also check for the protozoans giardia and coccidia.  These are not uncommon in a young kitten.  Either of these can be picked up from contaminated water, even in a cattery setting.  I have attached a couple of links for you to do more reading about them.

Is she eating and drinking normally?  If so, this is a good sign.  She should also be putting on weight gradually as she is growing.

If she is already 3 months, the vet will probably give her her kitten wellness vaccinations.  The feline leukemia vaccination is not automatically given, she will need a blood test first.  This will be optional whether you want to vaccinate her, but if there is any chance she will have contact with kitties of unknown health,  I would go ahead with the vaccination.  She will not get her rabies until she is a full 4 months old.

    Purrs to you and kitten.

  11. Awww don't worry, it's not an emergency-yet. Just bring her to the vet ASAP or it will be.

    Good Luck!

  12. It is never too late unless she contracts some virus or something, just get her in there as soon as possible

  13. Blood in the f***s doesn't necessarily indicate worms or anything really bad  You would have noticed most likely if there were worms, Don't worry.

  14. Hi i would not worry at all just take her for her jabs and explain to the vet about the blood , my kitten had blood once in her p**p and the vet said it was because she might have been straining herself xx
